The Mendocino Coast

Here we go, this 12 year old house has an already failed Hardi Shake roof that needs to go.

Among other items of interest is the existing 8 total Velux skylights - we will be installing new flashing kits and re-using the existing skylights themselves - during demo and all work we had to keep them covered for protection.

As you can see this house sits on the edge of a point on the ocean, a VERY nice view in all directions.

Here is the view to the south into the nearby cove.

Looks like one of the locals was having some sushi on the roof prior to our arrival.

Here we have the old roofing all gone, tar paper is installed and shingles are loaded for re-roofing.

And the re-roof begins with 50 year shingles nailed on with stainless steel nails over 30# felt.

Hard to not enjoy the ongoing view this project offers.

The boxes contain the new flashings for the skylights, we left the old ones in place until the re-roofing got to that point and then removed the old flashings.

Work continues on the upper roof areas.

Here we have the completed skylights area on the south side.

The last day of work to complete the project was very foggy, very common for the coast.

It was so foggy we could hardly see the bay right below us.

It took my crew only 3 1/2 days to complete this project.

Along the way we installed new copper roof to wall flashings as needed.

Quite the difference from the old roofing, and this roof won't fail in only 12 years.

Now on to the next ocean view special re-roof.
